Browning X-Bolt Mountain Pro Long Range 6.5 PRC Caliber with 4+1 Capacity, 26" Fluted/Muzzle Brake Barrel, Tungsten Gray Cerakote Metal Finish & Accent Graphic Black Synthetic Stock 035541294

New for 2023 –  Big game bolt-action hunting rifle with carbon fiber stock with accent graphics, Cerakote Tungsten finish on a stainless steel barrel and action, spiral fluted bolt, 26" spiral fluted and lapped heavy sporter contour barrel, threaded muzzle, Recoil Hawg muzzle brake and thread protector included.

The X-Bolt builds on past Browning rifles, and adds numerous improvements that place the X-Bolt at the top. The X-Bolt's new three-lever Feather Trigger provides a clean, crisp pull with no take-up or creep and minimal overtravel. The X-Bolt is free-floated by bedding the front and rear of the action for stability and to help maintain barrel to stock spacing for consistent accuracy. A recessed muzzle crown helps protect the rifling from damage. The Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad has proprietary construction and material to promote a directional deflection of recoil forces, pulling the stock comb away from your face to reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb. The bolt unlock button works in conjunction with the top-tang safety to provide an added measure of safety during checking and unloading of the chamber. This Mountain Pro Long Range model features a carbon fiber stock with accent graphics, cerakote tungsten metal finish, spiral fluted & lapped barrel, and Recoil Hawg muzzle brake.

OVERVIEW

Browning is delving into semi-custom rifle production with the new X-Bolt Mountain Pro. What classifies the X-Bolt Mountain Pro as a "semi-custom rifle" is the level of specialized finishing touches and higher end construction above the already top-tier X-Bolt family of hunting rifles. First, the X-Bolt Mountain Pro features a true carbon fiber stock — now lighter than previous versions — making it extremely lightweight and rigid. The stock is filled with a noise-dampening foam.

The Cerakote finish on the stainless steel ction and barrel is also on the exterior of the stock for added protection. The barrel features a new proprietary lapping process to provide consistent accuracy and easier bore cleaning, avoiding the need for a time-consuming break-in process. Other features include a spiral fluted bolt and bolt knob, threaded muzzle with our new Recoil Hawg muzzle brake that reduces felt recoil up to 77% depending on caliber, effectively taming your favorite magnum cartridges.

  • Carbon fiber stock with accent graphics
  • 1/4 pound weight reduction over previous models
  • Cerakote Tungsten finish on stainless steel barrel and action
  • 26" spiral fluted and lapped heavy sporter contour barrel with 5/8"x24 muzzle threading
  • Recoil Hawg muzzle brake and thread protector included
  • Spiral fluted bolt with rust-resistant Cerakote Tungsten finish
  • Removeable Picatinny accessory rail (swivel studs included)
  • Fast-twist rifling on select calibers

FEATURES:

CARBON FIBER STOCK

Lightweight, rigid and super tough, the second generation carbon fiber stock is immune to the elements and flex. It is constructed using a 360° carbon fiber weave. A compression molded carbon fiber recoil lug block is bonded to the stock and contributes to the low weight.

CERAKOTE FINISH

When compared to the traditional blueing process, premium Cerakote finishes offer the combination of increased durability, corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance.

RECOIL HAWG

The Browning Recoil Hawg ranks among the most effective muzzle brakes available. It reduces muzzle jump to keep your target in the scope and has been shown to reduce recoil up to 76% (depending on the caliber). Specially designed directional porting blows gases up and to the sides to minimize dust signature.

BARREL ACCURACY

The X-Bolt is free-floated by bedding the front and rear of the action for stability and to help maintain barrel to stock spacing for consistent accuracy. A recessed muzzle crown helps protect the rifling from damage.

FEATHER TRIGGER

he X-Bolt's three-lever Feather Trigger provides a clean, crisp pull with no take-up or creep and minimal overtravel.  For precise shooting in the field or off the bench, there’s absolutely no substitute for a good, predictable trigger. The X-Bolt’s new three-lever Feather Trigger provides a clean, crisp pull with no take-up or creep and minimal overtravel. The trigger is screw adjustable from 3 to 5 lbs. and factory pre-set at approximately 3 1/2 lbs. An alloy trigger housing contains the hard chromed steel components that are highly polished on all critical contact surfaces. Precise engagement angles mean the X-Bolt Feather Trigger feels light and right and stays that way through many thousands of rounds. Unlike competitors’ triggers with secondary fingerpiece levers, the Feather Trigger is designed right, from the very start.

X-LOCK — Rifle Scope Mounting System

X-Lock scope mounts feature a four screw per base design that replaces the traditional two screw system. The benefits are obvious, with the bases being secured at all four corners.  Securely mounted optics are essential to the accuracy and precision of any rifle. To ensure the new X-Bolt rifle has the most stable mount possible, it features the X-Lock scope mounting system. The X-Lock system uses four screws per base, replacing the traditional two-screw system. The benefits are obvious, with the scope bases being secured at all four corners rather than only held at the center of the base. This allows for more accurate placement of the bases on the receiver. This revolutionary X-Lock system holds the base tighter to the rifle than ever before.

INFLEX II TECHNOLOGY

This recoil pad has proprietary construction and material to promote a directional deflection of recoil forces, pulling the stock comb away from your face to reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb.

The Inflex Technology recoil pad is the most comfortable, effective pad available.  That's because Inflex Technology is more than a mass of recoil absorbing material, the innovation is engineered into the pad.  Underneath the material, an internal skeleton has been designed using the concept of directional deflection.  When a Browning with the Inflex recoil pad is fired, the pad collapses, but instead of simply moving to the rear, directional ribs pull the comb down and away from your face for even greater shooting comfort and faster follow-ups.

Inflex Technology is on several Browning rifles and shotguns. The videos shown below explains the system on an A5 shotgun and Browning X-Bolt rifle. The same principles apply to the other Browning guns fitted with Inflex.

The new Inflex II Technology recoil pad is the next generation of the most recoil absorbing pad available. A softer new outer material provides even better recoil absorbing performance and is super slippery to prevent snagging on clothing when shouldering. Internal directional deflection construction guides the comb down and away from your cheek for greater shooting comfort and faster, more accurate follow-up shots.

BOLT UNLOCK BUTTON

The bolt unlock button works in conjunction with the top-tang safety to provide an added measure of safety during checking and unloading of the chamber. The bolt unlock button is a feature found on the Browning X-Bolt and the AB3 bolt action rifles.

It works in conjunction with the top-tang safety to provide an added measure of safety during checking and unloading of the chamber. Conveniently located on top of the bolt lever, the bolt unlock button allows the bolt to be unlocked and opened with the safety in the on safe position. The safety blocks the trigger sear and features a firing pin block for added safety.

This feature is likely one of the most understated and under appreciated of Browning features until you actually use it. Then it becomes an integral part of the use and operation of your rifle.

  • The bolt unlock button works in conjunction with the top-tang safety to provide an extra margin of safety when checking and unloading the chamber.
  • Located on top of the bolt handle, the bolt unlock button allows the bolt to be unlocked and opened with the tang safety in the on safe position.
  • The convenient tang safety blocks the trigger sear and features a firing pin block for added security.

60° BOLT LIFT

Short 60° bolt lift is fast cycling and allows you to work the bolt quickly without the scope getting in the way.  A 60º bolt is something you want. Browning X-Bolt, A-Bolt and AB3  rifles have a short 60° bolt lift. Many competitors' rifles incorporate a 90° bolt lift that is not only slower and cumbersome but places the bolt near or on the rifle's scope, making the bolt more difficult to operate. The 60° bolt lift has been a hallmark of Browning bolt action rifles for over three decades.

The comfort and convenience of the added clearance between an open bolt and a large scope cannot be overstated. You will appreciate it. This photo below details the X-Bolt.

  • Short  60° bolt lift is fast cycling and the hand easily clears the scope.
  • The bolt is machined from solid steel bar stock for strength and custom rifle precision.
  • Three locking lugs provide exceptional bolt strength.

ROTARY MAGAZINE

A detachable rotary magazine is incorporated into the X-Bolt. Constructed from a durable lightweight polymer, the magazine is designed to feed cartridges directly in-line with the bolt.

Several Browning firearms feature a rotary style magazine. They are distinguised by the fact that the cartridges make a circular path as the move from the "bottom" of the magazine to the top position. The Browning X-Bolt and the Browning T-Bolt are current models featuring rotary magazines. The advantage of a rotary magazine, versus one which offsets every other round to the right and left it that the cartridge is always presented perfectly in the middle. There is no left/right bias similar to a single stack magazine.

X-Bolt Magazines. They are constructed from a durable lightweight polymer, the magazine is designed to feed cartridges directly in-line with the bolt, instead of offset as with traditional leaf-spring magazines, for a straight shot right into the chamber. An ergonomic magazine-mounted release lets the magazine rotate directly downward and into your hand. The magazine sits flush with the bottom of the rifle for a sleeker appearance. Additional magazines can be kept loaded and carried in your pocket or pack for easy access.
